Review : Not so Elite
The good: BDP-52FD plays DVDs amd BDs alright and right out of the box. No difficult setup needed to get your BDs playing with all necessary parts of audio on your TV through an HDMI connection.
The cheap: This BD player comes at the same price as the US price for the OPPO but feels much cheaper in every possible way: it does not have a component video interface, it needs an extra gadget that you must buy for another 50 Euros to connect wirelessly, the online content is meager, connection to your NAS or PC doesn't work - at least intuitively, and the entire software / menue interface feels MS DOS 2.0... Region-fixed 3D BD players come at 1/5 the price of the BDP-52 and might still be better re: online and network features. However, if you move around and if you are in NTSC/PAL 240/110 A,B,C hell like me, the player works.
